Main draw to kick off with Italian festival

The BOSS OPEN will finally get off to a flying start on Monday. Three Italian top stars can be admired on the Centre Court, including defending champion and fan favorite Matteo Berrettini.

The match between American Marcos Giron (ATP 75) and Czech Jiri Lehecka (41) will kick things off at 11 am on the Centre Court. Afterwards, Italian youngster Lorenzo Musetti (ATP 18) will play Croatian qualifier Borna Gojo (ATP 104).

Not before 3 pm fans will enjoy the pre-programmed highlight of the first match day: defending champion Matteo Berrettini (ATP 20) will meet Italian compatriot Lorenzo Sonego (ATP 48). The same encounter took place last year, when Berrettini prevailed in three hard-fought sets. Berrettini knows the difficulty of the task: "Lorenzo is not only a fantastic player, but also an extraordinary friend. The match will definitely be difficult."

The final match on the Centre Court will be between Spanish veteran Feliciano Lopez, who entered the competition via wildcard and will retire from professional tennis during the season, and Japanese qualifier Yosuke Watanuki (ATP 126).

In the Collosseum, another singles match is scheduled with Frenchman Richard Gasquet (ATP 52) taking on American qualifier Christopher Eubank (ATP 74). On the other hand, fans at the second match court can look forward to three top-class doubles matches, including the German pairing Oscar Otte/Jan-Lennard Struff or the No. 1 seeded pair Rohan Bopanna (IND)/Matthew Ebden (AUS).
