Fritz is the new BOSS in Stuttgart

The American prevails in the final against local hero Alexander Zverev 6-4, 7-6 (0) and is crowned champion of the BOSS OPEN for the first time.

For the first time since 1996, and only the third time ever, two top 10 players faced each other in the final of the tournament at Stuttgart's Weissenhof. With the current world number 3, Alexander Zverev, and the current number 7, Taylor Fritz, the line-up could hardly have been more high-calibre.

The final, which had to be interrupted at the start of the second set due to rain, was characterized by strong serving. There were only three break points in the entire match – all in favor of BOSS brand ambassador Fritz. The American converted one of them to take a 5-3 lead in the first set and then served confidently to win.

In the second set, there was a lengthy rain delay at 1-1. After the resumption, the match continued with the serve. At 5-5, Zverev was able to fend off another break point. In the tiebreak, Fritz played flawlessly and converted his first match point after 1 hour and 25 minutes.

Fritz overwhelmed

After his triumph in the final, Fritz was overwhelmed: “I've said it a few times this week, but it's just a dream to start the grass season with this title after the clay court season didn't go so well for me.” The new Stuttgart champion didn't have much time to celebrate, because: “I have to play doubles at Queen's tomorrow.”

Fritz now leads 8-5 in their head-to-head record. The triumph at the BOSS OPEN was also Fritz's fifth consecutive victory over Zverev. The win moves Fritz up to No. 4 in the world rankings.

Praise from Zverev

Zverev, who still has to wait for his first tournament victory on grass, was composed after the match: “Taylor, you are one of the best in the world on grass and you were much better than me today.” Nevertheless, the Hamburg native considered his performance at the BOSS OPEN a success: “I couldn't be happier to play here. It was a wonderful week. My first final on grass in eight years.” He also thanked the spectators: “I didn't play a single match with an empty seat all week. You were incredible. I always enjoy playing for you.”

Doubles title goes to Gonzalez/Krajicek

The doubles title at the BOSS OPEN 2025 went to the Mexican-American pairing of Santiago Gonzalez and Austin Krajicek. They defeated the all-American duo of Alex Michelsen and Rajeev Ram 6-4, 6-4 in the final.
