Two top ten stars in the final and 54,000 spectators
A positive conclusion was drawn by tournament director Edwin Weindorfer, Daniel Grieder, CEO of HUGO BOSS AG, and Georg Kauffeld, chairman of TC Weissenhof, ahead of the finals of the BOSS OPEN 2025.
From a sporting perspective, the singles final between Germany’s No. 1 Alexander Zverev (ATP rank 3) and BOSS brand ambassador Taylor Fritz (USA / ATP 7) ensured that, for only the third time in the long history of the tournament, two top-ten stars in the world rankings faced each other. This had previously happened in 1981 between Björn Borg and Ivan Lendl, and in 1996 between Thomas Muster and Yevgeny Kafelnikov.
Tournament director Edwin Weindorfer commented on this fact in a correspondingly upbeat manner: “I’ve organized 50 or 60 ATP tournaments, but this is the first time I’ve seen the top four seeds make it to the semifinals. The final between the current world No. 3 (Alexander Zverev, editor’s note) and the No. 4 in the live rankings (Taylor Fritz, editor’s note) is the sporting highlight of this year’s BOSS OPEN,” said Weindorfer, who was also pleased with an increase in attendance. “We welcomed 54,000 spectators to Weissenhof, which is a slight increase of 1,000 fans compared to last year.”
Already during the tournament week, the contract extension with title sponsor BOSS was announced, securing the partnership for another five years until 2030. “With BOSS, we have the best title sponsor one could wish for. We are proud to have extended the partnership long-term. This allows us to continue developing the tournament together and to set new accents,” Weindorfer explained. When asked whether Alexander Zverev would compete at Weissenhof in the coming years, the tournament director replied: “We haven’t had those discussions yet, but he feels completely at home here. He loves Stuttgart and was here with his entire family. I’ll be sitting down with his management at Wimbledon to talk about the future.”
Daniel Grieder highlighted the many innovations at the TC Weissenhof venue, which led to visitors staying longer at the tournament. “It was a wonderful week, almost like a holiday at TC Weissenhof. For that, I want to thank the organizer e|motion, TC Weissenhof, and also our BOSS team – and last but not least, the players, who were the stars of the show. We saw great, exciting tennis here. I’m absolutely thrilled that our brand ambassador Taylor Fritz and fan favorite Alexander Zverev reached the final. That made a wish I had at the start of the tournament come true.”
Georg Kauffeld emphasized that with BOSS’s entry as title sponsor, the ATP grass-court highlight in Stuttgart had effectively made a quantum leap. “This marked a turning point for the tournament and is reflected in the positive response from the spectators. The fans are all happy and go home in the evening with a smile on their faces.”
The next edition of the BOSS OPEN will take place from 6 to 14 June 2026 at Stuttgart’s Weissenhof.
