Fritz kicks off title defence as Hanfmann and Struff face tough tests
Wednesday promises another day of top-class tennis at the BOSS OPEN on the grounds of the TC Weissenhof. One of the main attractions will be the first appearance of defending champion Taylor Fritz, who enters the tournament after receiving a first-round bye. The American will face Spanish rising star Martin Landaluce not before 3 pm. Landaluce advanced to the round of 16 with a hard-fought three-set victory over Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
German fans will have plenty to cheer for from the very start of the day. Yannick Hanfmann opens the Centre Court schedule at 11 am. against Italy’s Mattia Bellucci. The Karlsruhe native came through two tie-breaks against Aleksandar Kovacevic on Tuesday and will now be aiming to reach the Stuttgart quarter-finals for the first time in his career. Bellucci, however, arrives full of confidence after upsetting seventh seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the opening round.
Not before 12:30 pm, Jan-Lennard Struff takes to the Centre Court. The German crowd favorite faces third seed Alexander Bublik. After receiving a bye in the first round, it will be Bublik’s first match at the 2026 BOSS OPEN.
There are also several attractive doubles matches on the schedule. Hanfmann and Struff will team up in the afternoon to take on Jiri Lehecka and Corentin Moutet, while Nick Kyrgios and Alexander Bublik will make a second attempt to complete their opening-round doubles match against Jakub Paul (SUI) and Ryan Seggerman (USA) after it was postponed due to rain.
With Taylor Fritz launching his title defence, two German players competing for a place in the quarter-finals and a host of other top stars in action, fans can look forward to another exciting day of tennis at the Weissenhof.
