Matteo Berrettini aims for title hat-trick

The BOSS OPEN and Matteo Berrettini – a perfect match! The Italian fan favorite has already won on Stuttgart’s grass-courts twice, in 2019 and 2022, and reached the final last year. His impressive match record stands at 13 wins and just 2 losses. The good news for tennis fans: BOSS brand ambassador Matteo Berrettini will once again compete at the Weissenhof from June 7 to 15 this year, aiming to write the next chapter in his Stuttgart success story.

Matteo Berrettini has long won over the hearts of Stuttgart’s tennis fans with his performances at the BOSS OPEN! In 2019, he celebrated his first tournament triumph at the Weissenhof with a straight-sets victory in the final against Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime. He followed it up with a second title in 2022, defeating Scottish tennis icon Andy Murray in a dramatic three-set battle.

Last year, the Roman came close to a third Stuttgart victory. In the final, he engaged in a thrilling duel with Jack Draper, which the rising British star ultimately won 3-6, 7-6 (7/5), 6-4 in front of 6,000 enthusiastic spectators. "It was an incredible week and an incredible final – it was so close. The loss will sting for a while, but that’s tennis. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose," Berrettini admitted after the match.

In Stuttgart, the Italian boasts an impressive 13:2 win-loss record – a figure he hopes to improve further at this year’s BOSS OPEN in June, ideally by claiming his third title. "Over the years, this tournament has become very special to me. The beautiful setting at TC Weissenhof, the fantastic atmosphere on Centre Court, and the amazing support from the fans make the BOSS OPEN a truly unique event. I’m really looking forward to playing in Stuttgart again this year. The Weissenhof is the perfect place to kick off the grass-court season," says Berrettini, who has already won ten ATP titles – four of them were won on grass by the 2021 Wimbledon finalist.

Matteo Berrettini joins an elite field at the BOSS OPEN 2025, which will also feature Germany’s top players Alexander Zverev and Jan-Lennard Struff, the American stars Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe, as well as crowd favorites Gael Monfils (FRA) and Nick Kyrgios (AUS).

"We are delighted that Matteo Berrettini will once again compete at the BOSS OPEN this year. Thanks to his success in Stuttgart, he has become one of the faces of the tournament in recent years. With his aggressive playing style and his strengths on grass, he is certainly one of the title favorites at the Weissenhof again this year," emphasizes Tournament Director Edwin Weindorfer.
