Berrettini and Tiafoe to compete at the BOSS OPEN 2026
Tennis fans can look forward to an early Christmas present! Matteo Berrettini and Frances Tiafoe – two of the biggest fan favorites on the ATP Tour – have confirmed their participation in the BOSS OPEN 2026. Together with defending champion Taylor Fritz, this means that three tennis aces who have already etched their names onto the winners’ list at the TC Weissenhof will return to Stuttgart next year.
Matteo Berrettini has even managed the extraordinary feat of winning the Stuttgart title twice. In 2019, the Italian prevailed in the final against Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets. In 2022, the Rome native defeated two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray in a high-quality three-set final. In 2024, Berrettini came close to capturing his third Weissenhof title, but after winning the first set in a thrilling final, he was narrowly beaten by Britain’s Jack Draper.
Berrettini has won the hearts of Stuttgart fans not only because, like defending champion Taylor Fritz, he serves as a global brand ambassador for the tournament’s title sponsor BOSS. The 29-year-old impresses the crowd with his thunderous serve, powerful forehand, and likable personality off the court.
“Stuttgart is a great tournament that I’ve already been able to win twice. My memories of those victories are still very vivid, so I will do everything I can to build on them. The BOSS OPEN holds a special meaning for me, so I’m really looking forward to returning to Stuttgart next year,” emphasizes Berrettini, who – like in Stuttgart – was part of Italy’s winning Davis Cup team again this year. The ten-time ATP champion has also captured two grass-court titles at London’s Queen’s Club (2021, 2022).
Like Matteo Berrettini, Frances Tiafoe is known for his spectacular tennis and his emotional connection with the crowd. In 2023, the American celebrated his BOSS OPEN title after securing victory in a dramatic final against local hero Jan-Lennard Struff. The extroverted “Big Foe” is always good for a magical shot or a spontaneous high-five with fans.
He fell in love with the BOSS OPEN long before his tournament win two and a half years ago: “Everyone here is super nice to me, and the crowd is one of the most respectful anywhere. The atmosphere at the Weissenhof is fantastic, and BOSS also has some extremely cool fashion,” Tiafoe explains, describing why he feels so at home in the region.
After U.S. stars Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul as well as German crowd favorite Jan-Lennard Struff had already confirmed their participation in September, the 2026 lineup has now gained two more prominent additions with Matteo Berrettini and Frances Tiafoe.
“With the confirmations from former Stuttgart champions Matteo Berrettini, Taylor Fritz, and Frances Tiafoe, as well as Jan-Lennard Struff and Tommy Paul, fans can once again look forward to a tennis event of the highest caliber at the BOSS OPEN 2026. These announcements are the best proof of the tournament’s great importance at the start of the grass-court season,” says tournament director Edwin Weindorfer.
