Quarter finals hit Tsitsipas – Murray
On Friday, the BOSS OPEN’s quarter finals will be played. Besides two really big hit matches, Geman Oscar Otte also has hopes of reaching the Stuttgart semis.
But above all there is the meeting between two-times Wimbledon champion Andy Murray and Stefanos Tsitsipas, the tournament’s number 1. Murray is trying to get as many matches as possible before Wimbledon, a goal he already achieved in the past weeks and here in Stuttgart. Tsitsipas made his Stuttgart debut on Thursday, after a bye in the first round. There, he clinically beat Swiss youngster Dominic Stricker in just 70 minutes 6-3, 6-4. “I think, grass perfectly suits my game. Grass is one of my favorite surfaces”, Tsitsipas repeatedly explained in Stuttgart. Still, he has only respect for his opponent: “Andy is one of the best grass court players. I will go out there, try to enjoy myself and see where that gets me.”
Fans can expect another high-class grass court match in the duel between two Italians, as the tournament’s number 2, Matteo Berrettini, and Lorenzon Sonego, 6, have known each other for a long time. “We grew up together”, Berrettini reveals. “This will certainly be an exciting match.”
Germany’s last hope to win the tournament, Oscar Otte, will face Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi for a spot in the semis. Bonzi is currently ranked no. 58 in the world and thus only three spots in front of Otte. So fans can certainly expect a close and hard-fought battle.
The fourth quarter-final will be played between Hungarian Marton Fucsovics and Nick Kyrgios.
