Who makes it to the finals?
On Saturday, the BOSS OPEN’s semi-finals are played. Which players will make it through to the final on Sunday?
The first semi-final starts at 11.30 am. Oscar Otte, the last German player in the tournament, will take on the tournament’s number 2, Italian Matteo Berrettini. Otte made it to the semis after his opponent Benjamin Bonzi (FRA) had to withdraw from the tournament due to pain in his stomach. For Otte, this marks the second time this year, that he got to the semi-finals after the ATP event in Munich just a few weeks ago. Due to this success, he will also crack the top 50 of the ATP rankings for the first time in his career. Berrettini had to fight harder to reach the semis. His good friend and countryman Lorenzo Sonego forced Berrettini to go the distance to finally celebrate the victory 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
In the second semi final, two-times Wimbledon champion Andy Murray (GBR) and Australian Nick Kyrgios will clash. Murray eliminated the tournament’s number 1, Stefanos Tsitsipas, 7-6 (4), 6-3. After the match Murray said: “The conditions were better today. We both served well and there were only few chances for both of us. In the tie-break I was slightly better and then took the momentum into the second set. Nick Kyrgios was leading Marton Fucsovics (HUN) 7-6 (3), 3-0 when the Hungarian had to withdraw due to problems with his back. Murray knows that reaching the final will be tough: “When Nick is motivated – and he usually is during the grass court season – he is one of the best players on grass in the world.”
