Stefanos Tsitsipas the new number 1 at the BOSS OPEN
The BOSS OPEN starting this Saturday, June 10, have a new number 1! Thanks to a wild card, the current world number five, Stefanos Tsitsipas, will participate at Stuttgart's Weissenhof. The Greek tops the seeding list ahead of the two US players Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe, followed by Hubert Hurkacz from Poland.
The field of participants at the BOSS OPEN in Stuttgart now boasts another top star! Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas will open his grass court season at the Weissenhof again this year, as he already did in 2022. "The Weissenhof is a club with a lot of tradition and I am looking forward to starting my grass court preparation here next week", said Tsitsipas.
The current world number five won his first ATP title on grass last season at the Mallorca Championships, which like the BOSS OPEN is organized by "e|motion sports", and has thus already won tournaments on all surfaces (grass, clay, hard court) on the ATP Tour. Overall, Tsitsipas has nine tournament victories to his name. In the current season, the 24-year-old has reached the finals of both the Australian Open in Melbourne and Barcelona. He also reached the semifinals in Rome and most recently the round of the last eight at the French Open in Paris.
"We are delighted that Stefanos Tsitsipas, another top ten star, will be competing at this year's BOSS OPEN. With his tournament victory last year at the Mallorca Championships, he has also proven his qualities on grass. With his participation, the circle of favorites in Stuttgart has become even bigger," explained Tournament Director Edwin Weindorfer.
