Sir Andy Murray returns to Stuttgart
Following the commitments of Germany's number one Alexander Zverev, the new global BOSS brand ambassador Taylor Fritz (USA) and last year's finalists Frances Tiafoe (USA) and Jan-Lennard Struff (GER), the ATP grass court highlight has now received the accolade. Sir Andy Murray is returning to the Weissenhof this year after reaching the final in 2022.
Andy Murray celebrates his 37th birthday on 15 May, tomorrow! German fans also have reason to celebrate the Scottish tennis icon's participation in the BOSS OPEN. Murray already competed on Stuttgart‘s grass two years ago and played an outstanding tournament in which he reached the final. Only there was he stopped by the Italian Matteo Berrettini in a thrilling three-set match.
The two-time Wimbledon champion (2013, 2016), Olympic champion (2012 in London, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro) and winner of the 2012 US Open is one of the greatest players of the past two decades coming to Germany once again. "I have a lot of positive memories of the tournament in Stuttgart two years ago, so I'm really looking forward to returning to the BOSS OPEN," said Andy Murray, who topped the tennis world rankings for 41 weeks and celebrated no fewer than 46 tournament victories on the ATP Tour. On May 16, 2019, Murray received a special honor when he was knighted by the current King Charles at Buckingham Palace for his services to tennis and charity.
