Zverev: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be back for the BOSS OPEN”
After reaching the final last season, Alexander Zverev will once again compete at the BOSS OPEN this year. The world No. 3 announced the news in a video posted on the tournament’s Instagram account.
Last year, Alexander Zverev delighted German tennis fans with his performances at the BOSS OPEN. The Hamburg native advanced to the final without dropping a set, where he faced American Taylor Fritz in a thrilling contest. BOSS brand ambassador Fritz ultimately won in straight sets. During the trophy ceremony, Zverev delivered a humorous speech, joking to his opponent: “Taylor, I’ve really had enough of you. I don’t want to see you for the next two or three years. Please don’t come back to Germany.” He then added: “No, seriously – you deserved the title.”
Fritz will not be granting Zverev that wish of staying away from Germany, as the defending champion has already confirmed his participation in the 2026 BOSS OPEN. Last year, Zverev left Stuttgart saying: “It was a wonderful week. I played my first grass-court final in eight years. I hope to be back next year.” Now, he has confirmed his return in a video message: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be back in Stuttgart for the BOSS OPEN. I’m really looking forward to the fans and the atmosphere. I can’t wait to see you all again on Centre Court – see you soon!” said Zverev, who is aiming to win his first career grass-court title in Stuttgart.
With Alexander Zverev (ATP No. 3) and Taylor Fritz (No. 7), two top 10 stars headline the preliminary entry list for the BOSS OPEN. They are joined by fellow Americans Tommy Paul (No. 18) and Frances Tiafoe (No. 19), both ranked in the top 20. Two-time Stuttgart champion and BOSS brand ambassador Matteo Berrettini and Australian tennis maverick Nick Kyrgios are also on the entry list, along with Germany’s veteran Jan-Lennard Struff and rising prospect Justin Engel.
“We are very pleased that Alexander Zverev will be playing at the BOSS OPEN again this year. His participation further enhances the tournament’s significance. During his appearances last year, he truly sparked excitement among the Stuttgart crowd. A look at the current entry list once again promises top-class tennis and spectacular matches at the BOSS OPEN,” emphasized tournament director Edwin Weindorfer.
